Catch And Release Red Snapper

Panama City Beach Fishing Report For February 2018

Inshore Fishing Update

28308729_10105773044444521_1377941997_n February fishing is under-appreciated in my opinion. There are minimal boat traffic and very little fishing pressure. One can easily see the full potential of fishing the waters in Panama City Beach. As the waters slowly warm up the redfish and trout action is expected to follow suit. Once the water temperatures reach the 60-degree mark, we do expect the last of the sheepshead to disappear. On the other hand that’s about the time for the dock light fishing to fire up in the evening. 20180218_103638

Nearshore Fishing Update

While all the black, white, red, and vermillion snapper bites remain strong, red snapper is closed and it is yet to be determined as to what the open season will be. While the red snapper remains closed, this species has not been harvested with any consistency at all. Last week on Feb 18th, we took a 6-hour trip, 7 miles offshore and released 6 red snappers over 20lbs each (See Video Here). If you’re looking for a big fish, the catch and release amberjack game is also always fun to play this time of year.
